Asir/Abha
Abha / Khamis Mushayt – the most toured place
in Saudi, local and other neighboring country, al Soodah
Park is the highest point in the Arabia Peninsula with
an elevation exceeding 3000 meters above sea level.
You can take the cable car to Rijal Almaa village. While
you are in Abha you can see many attractions site including
Habalah Hanging Village, Asir National Park Showroom,
Al Soodah, Turkish Fort, Rijal Almaa and its Museum,
Bin Hamsan House, Jarash and Khamis Mushayt Gold and
Silver souq and the famous Market where goods are being
sell by women.
Asir National Park:
In order to preserve the beautiful landscape, flora
and fauna of the Asir, the Saudi Government set aside
450,000 hectares of the land and sea in 1976, to form
the Asir National Park.
Abha Museum:
Contains many antiques discovered in Asir Region.
Khamis Mushayt:
The sister town of Abha, where traders from outlying
district congregate to sell their wares in the weekly
market.
Habalah: (Hanging Village / Village of Rope)
The name Habalah comes from Arabic word “habl”
meaning “rope”, this tribe had been located
by a helicopter out spotting for mining research center,
at the foot of perilous rift.
Why has a place of such difficult access been chosen?
– The official account, according to which a clan
of the Qahtan tribe had fled the Turks years before
and taken refuge in this perilous eerie.
A World of Builders:
The area around Abha is unique for its solidly built
mud houses. The slight graduation from on layer to the
next gives these houses the overall impression of truncated
pyramids. Foundations are usually stones.
